Metoclopramide HCl is used to relieve nausea and vomiting. Available in the market in the form of tablets, syrup and injection. Chewable tablets are a new product as an alternative for the treatment of pediatric and adult patients who have difficulty swallowing drugs. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Pvp k-30, gelatin and amylum maydis at a concentration of 2% as a binding agent on the physical properties of chewable tablets metoclopramoide HCl. Preparation of chewable tablets using wet granulation method. In the study the concentration was the same (PVP K-30 2%, gelatin 2% and amylum maydis 2%).The resulting tablets were tested for their physical properties, namely organoleptic, weight uniformity, hardness, brittleness, disintegration time, uniformity of content and taste response. The data obtained was done using the One Way Anova test.Based on the experimental results, it was found that PVP K-30 as a binder for metoclopramide HCl chewable tablets produced tablets with small hardness, relatively large brittleness and fast disintegration time.Gelatin as a binder produces chewable tablet metoclopramide HCl which has relatively high hardness, small brittleness and long dissolution time.Amylum maydis as a binder produces metoclopramide HCl chewable tablets with small hardness, relatively large brittleness and fast disintegration time.
